Expend

Sacrifice, at times feels okay,
but should not guide through every day.
Resentments will soon find their way,
at times they linger, to then stay.

Give to just give, but never take,
pure actions transform into fake.
Hear silent cries inwardly shout,
fulfill needs with no space for doubt.

Provide fully, then grant some more,
a selfless life or endless chore.
No one can give what they don’t have,
nothing to share or cut in half.

People will do, what one allows,
form boundaries then draw them out.
Take a firm stand, find inner voice,
all acts become free will and choice.

Search deep within, find the right words,
sing them out loud, so they are heard.
Centered so straight to take a stand,
let heartbeats dictate firm commands.

Expose true self, to feel secure,
self-acceptance, a perfect cure.
Confidence makes each footstep sure,
deeds ever clear, intentions pure.

  2. Expose true self, to feel secure,
    self-acceptance, a perfect cure…
What an inspiring and heart warming poem, Grace! Truly enjoyed ❤️💐

  3. You explored this topic really well in your poem, Grace. Resentment building, “pure actions transform into fake,” tempered by creating boundaries and discovering that when you “Take a firm stand, find inner voice, / all acts become free will and choice.” – this is all so true.

  4. People who surely do that. family was slander you as soon as a stranger will do it. And those who hear the lies will continue to follow the liar I have a clue why I have the scars to prove it.

  5. Grace, your words resonate with wisdom, urging a balance between selflessness and self-preservation. The verses flow seamlessly, delivering profound insights on the importance of setting boundaries and embracing self-acceptance. Well articulated!
