Sweep the pain away, this time,
never let hope drop the dime.
Peace makes agony serene,
exhale all that feels unclean.

Sweep away the pain, again,
release it with a fine pen.
Write your hurts and fears away,
imagine a better day.

Sweep away the pain, once more,
positive vibes open doors.
Inhale relief deep inside,
self worthiness leads and guides.

Sweep away the pain right now,
take the trash out, take a bow.
Heal all aches from deep within,
replace misery with wins.

Blink of an Eye

How did the years go by so fast?
Molasses days passed in a flash.
Wrinkle in time made roots turn gray,
enlightened wisdom led the way.

When did duty become the norm?
Innocent eyes seem to transform.
Beauty does not fade, but matures,
raw arrogance becomes assured.

Why did wild actions become tame?
Accountability ate blame.
Shame shrugged and said that it was wrong,
apologies are now so strong.

What changed lessons from bad to good?
Teachable moments understood.
Coincidence does not exist,
all that is learned, gained to persist.

Who is this person that I see?
A better version of young me.
Someone who earned her place in life,
she battled recklessness and strife.

Where did time go to not return?
Bright memories satisfies yearn.
Move forward to create new roads,
ones where pure love has been bestowed.

It is what It is

A snake will always be a snake,
she sheds her skin, but not her ways.
Slithering swiftly on the ground,
poisonous tongue hisses around.

A worn disguise, briefly disguised,
enhances how some feel inside.
Exposing what words cannot tell,
a fallen mask, an outer shell.

A leopard never changes spots,
crawls fast through life while taking shots.
Observing while tiptoeing slow,
attacks his prey, never lets go.

Originals are not copies,
experts of what they embody.
Creates itself so well detailed,
true masterpiece, replicas fail.

A quacking duck is just a duck,
habits unchanged, even if plucked.
Swimming along swiftly flaps wings,
forms a straight line within its kin.

Man made is made unnatural,
often seems quite irrational.
Unbalanced and just slightly off,
through a blurred lens, able to morph.

Crank the anchor, stare as it lifts,
magical boat sails to then drift.
Powerful views cause thoughts to shift,
unplanned hiatus, cruises swift.

Winds rock the boat from here to there,
life shakes me up and feels unfair.
Tears lost at sea, where no one cares,
absent from life yet still aware.

I grab the steer, balanced at once.
then trim the sail to tie each knot.
Harmonize with my offbeat heart,
convince fate to change story plot.

Waves carry us to where we land,
both keel and feet enjoy the sand.
This life is sweet, from where I stand,
infinite destiny at hand.

Moonwashed Weekly Challenge #136 – March 28, 2023
Prompt – Hiatus

So bored within a scheduled life,
full dullness penetrates her eyes.
Stagnancy keeps thrills in a cage,
simmers slowly to fuel up rage.

Another day, another class,
stare at the clock, watch seconds pass.
So tired with words teachers say,
detest their lectures everyday.

Another seat, another rule,
stare into space an aimless fool.
Only escape, a window view,
that hold the key to what is true.

Another quiz, another test,
a different night filled with unrest.
Anxiety knocks on her door,
ambitions never meet the score.

Another thought, another hope,
a change of pace to help her cope.
Future so bright, lights up her mind,
a new outlook, one of a kind.

Sweet daydreams show how time will be,
positive angles set her free.
A hidden smile exposes joy,
learns happiness is her own choice.

Spiritual vows,
float throughout space.
A present bow,
true love in place.

A ring in hand,
questions erase.
Two worlds expand,
then interlace.

Life built from love,
forever stands.
Sent from above,
without demands.

Divine and pure,
golden embrace.
Faith soon assures,
infinite grace.

Euphoric bath,
a solid pace.
Intertwined path,
completes the race.

Fully complete,
together stand.
Strong as concrete,
eternal band.

Response to Sadje’s picture prompt on What Do You See # 179 March 27, 2023

Jupiter ( Published at The Writers Club)

A snake disguised as a tree branch
can stand quite still to reach attack,
wears a sweet smile while stabbing backs,
carries pink hues, to hide the black.

A victim role, you play too well,
pushing the fool, saying they fell,
sympathy gained is your best spell,
those by your side, live in your hell.

Do anything to get your way,
poisoned my cup, then caused delays,
your worried face was well displayed,
before your eyes, your plans decayed.

Paint yourself bright, nice, and sunny,
with veins that flow such sweet honey,
patient with a splash of funny,
acts to access unearned money.

Inner pity makes you so cruel,
taught by elders how to bend rules,
feed deep hunger, ignite your fuel,
attempts to feel like a rare jewel.

Hope one day you can understand,
most lives rarely follow a plan,
the pain delivered by your hands,
revert right back to where you stand.

My poem “Jupiter” was published at The Writers Club I would like to thank their team for showcasing this piece.💕

Sailing through the desert,
thirsty for a change.
Searching for an answer
to this twisted game.

Listening to whispers,
carried by the breeze,
chanting words of wisdom
directed at me.

Releasing resentments,
as I am advised.
All emotions fly free
and lessons are prized.

Fallen tears from my eyes
bring thunder and rain.
Absolving past blames
while dissolving pain.

I no longer feel parched,
hydrated at last.
Sailing slowly through life,
my voids fill up fast.

Self Sacrifice

Tangled by an alluring dance,
oblivious to its mute romance.
Entrapped to slowly be seduced,
by tight knots that cannot come loose.

I toss, then turn, try hard to sway,
the more I move, the more I stays.
My helpless heart stands still in place,
give into loss, no will to chase.

But sacrifice is not my name,
refuse to play these worthless games.
Calms inner nerves, search clouded mind,
tasting the hope I know I’ll find.

Opens both eyes and comes to see,
my captor has always been me.
The ego side, afraid to live,
realizing this makes all knots give.

Television Date

Quick take out sushi and T.V.,
my favorite date, alone with me.
binge worthy show sets the night free,
entertains while letting me be.

Wonderful place to end this day,
imagined stories lead the way,
the perfect plan to feel okay,
mesmerized by lines actors say.

To let go of reality,
embraces true neutrality,
enhances my normality,
increases great vitality.

Look forward to this time next week,
unravel cliffhanger mystique,
gain all the answers that I seek,
await previews to gain a peek.
