Uncage the Past

Time flutters by like a swift bird,
memories swim stuttering words.
Feelings hide in my heart’s ocean,
salty warm waves free emotions.

Close both worn eyes absorb and heal,
melodies chime, cold fears reveal.
Try to decide which way to flow,
hear inner chants whisper ” Let go”.

Relive this dream without a tie,
allow true self to rise up high.
Lovingly wave traumas goodbye,
watch past embers all slowly die.

Mind and soul merge within the sky,
my body falls while visions fly.
Release the past, embrace the new,
from lessons learned great wisdom grew.

  3. As tears dry on my face from reading Bridgette’s Orphan and the Tortoise fairy tale….this line absolutely speaks to me….”Salty warm waves free emotions”. How many times to emotions well up so large you can’t contain them and stream down your cheeks? Absolutely beautiful poem, Grace, you truly have a gift. 💞💞💞
