Shrug

Army of daggers,
fly up in the air,
watch as they stagger,
no worries or cares.

Resilient heart,
hopes for an escape,
priceless piece of art,
keeps its solid shape.

Sharp words leave a sting,
watch from whom they come,
negative can cling,
on those who succumb.

To only accept,
pure positive light,
makes true self adept,
infinitely bright.

  1. Great take on the prompt Grace. Words have such lasting power positive and negative…I like the hopeful focus in the last verse…to cherish the positive effects of the words we choose. I totally agree!
Thank you for this lovely parable as poem!

  2. In life everything is learning, even the bad moments teach, but accepting the good makes our lives lighter.

A pleasure to read you, friend Grace. 🤗

  3. Well said, Grace. And it’s true about that sting lingering…
    Thanks for sharing.
