Rebuild

Unfold the layers off this mask,
swallow the questions no one asks,
another day with the same tasks,
drunk wishes swim within old flasks.

Alone while others are around,
all aspirations hit the ground,
an inner silence feels profound,
wishes crash hard but make no sound.

Frustrations learn to stand alone,
messages whispered in soft tones,
a deep connection with unknowns,
unsure faith rest, still as a stone.

The years pile on in the same way,
a routines mix, dictates each day,
bored numbness takes over and stays,
just then a dream dares to invade.

A yellow thought becomes so true,
the tossed old bottle makes life new,
the quickest blink changes all views,
listen to songs the breezes blew.

Tall solid plank standing upright,
the warm sunshine exhales delight,
self confidence offers insight,
builds a grand future that shines bright.

  1. Wow! So powerful! Love these lines:
“A yellow thought becomes all true,
the tossed old bottle makes life new,
the quickest blink changes all views,
listen to songs the breezes blew.”

  2. This is so beautifully written, Grace! Every line is so touching, the last two stanzas were just too good. You always do end it so very well and I absolutely love that. Loved it ❤❤

  3. …drunk wishes swim within old flasks…and then.. the warm sunshine exhales delight.. simply stunning lines. Good one, Grace 👌💐💖
