Persistence

Regret can choke
till hopes are dead.
Ego will poke
in doubtful heads.

Tears cloud clear eyes,
fill steps with dread,
absorb faith dry,
so fears can spread.

Take a deep breath
attempt to try,
going the length
helps wishes fly.

Drown out distress,
fling goals up high.
Embrace success,
intents comply.

Do not let fright
hold good dreams back.
Narrow down sights,
remain on track.

Grasp inner light
defend attacks.
Hearts shine so bright
erasing lack.

  1. Oh, what a marvelous poem! Persistence is key to success and I agree to it. Look at this: “Do not let fright hold good dreams back.” What an inspiring line, my friend Grace. ✅👏🌟🌟💖

  2. Your poems are always so uplifting, Grace, this one being no exception. Most of mine express angst, sadness, or anger, though I’m not a morose person. I wonder why that is—why some poets’ work is full of light, while others’ is steeped in darkness…

    1. I love both light and dark poetry, but as of the last year or so I began finding resolutions for certain situations as I wrote. It does provide an uplifting satisfaction as each piece is finished. I find that I get answers this way. 💕🙏💕

  3. A deep breath gives an opportunity to analyse SWOT, for which patience and perseverance are must. Well penned, Grace👍💖
