Mentor (Published at The Writers Club)

He taught me many lessons,
ones I cannot soon forget:
“Always give your very best,
so you never face regrets.”

On his own, without guidance,
made him wise beyond his years:
“If your sad, have a good cry,
let your hands wipe your own tears.”

Through time fake friendships withered,
never had much family:
“Better off being alone,
than around bad company.”

Hard at work for a low wage,
money came but rarely stayed:
“Feel no guilt obtaining wants,
needs will be met everyday.”

Gave himself to all in need,
and always handed respect:
“If you give, give from your heart,
just make sure to not expect.”

  1. A poem to treasure. When the going gets tough and it seems hard finding a shoulder to lean on, this is one poem to read again during such times. Might not solve your problem, but will certainly cheer you up.

  2. Yes πŸ™ŒπŸ» – really on this same wave length. Been removing fake friends and having to really find balance with wants and needs as my family is in a tough spot. Been trying to figure out how I can support my children better, hoping to do it through my writing, photography, and jewelry, but it is really tough. So grateful for you and your presence in this world. πŸ’ž Thank you for being here and thank you for sharing your light. πŸ’ž
