Deactivate

A prisoner lived in her brain,
creating doubts canceling gains,
it was so proud when she felt strain,
and laughed out loud to cause more pain.

It stemmed from hurtful careless acts,
that created lasting impacts,
killed off all trust and helpful facts,
made sure sorrows were kept in tact.

Eyes in the mirror looked so lost,
her exhales all carried exhaust,
she wished her heart would soon defrost,
prepared to heal at any cost.

Removed one bar from the jail cell,
gained inner strength then chose to tell,
every last bar suddenly fell,
her fury cleared with one loud yell.

Composed herself to gain some peace,
old shadows swam within the breeze,
she felt inner torments decrease,
as relieved sighs helped tears release.

As time flew by she found a way,
to help other monsters decay,
negative thoughts were forced to sway,
by not giving them space to play.

  1. beautiful, dear friend. we may labor to erase them all, but it is the most rewarding of all. i know you know how much that means. thank you always for your lovely poetry.

  2. Freedom from the prison of anxiety and negativity is not easy but never impossible. I liked the way you gave a great message with your wonderful words, Grace! Great job πŸ’•

  3. Love how her exhalations changed from exhaust to relieved sighs. I also get the sense that the other monsters she is helping release are not only hers, but others battling similar demons. Very well written (as always πŸ’ž) Grace! πŸ’žπŸ’žπŸ’ž
