How did the years go by so fast?
Molasses days passed in a flash.
Wrinkle in time made roots turn gray,
enlightened wisdom led the way.
When did duty become the norm?
Innocent eyes seem to transform.
Beauty does not fade, but matures,
raw arrogance becomes assured.
Why did wild actions become tame?
Accountability ate blame.
Shame shrugged and said that it was wrong,
apologies are now so strong.
What changed lessons from bad to good?
Teachable moments understood.
Coincidence does not exist,
all that is learned, gained to persist.
Who is this person that I see?
A better version of young me.
Someone who earned her place in life,
she battled recklessness and strife.
Where did time go to not return?
Bright memories satisfies yearn.
Move forward to create new roads,
ones where pure love has been bestowed.
