Yesterday

Memories from a turned page,
twirl around disrupting change.
Holding tight to what has been,
hesitating to begin.

Memories from a turned page,
keeps minds in a golden cage.
Dancing to a yesterday,
blurring visions for new ways.

Memories from a turned page,
take you to a younger age.
Singing songs made of regrets,
forming sorrowful duets.

Memories from a turned page,
can no longer rearrange.
Letting go of what once was
so clear visions can adjust.

Memories from a turned page,
have no place on a grand stage.
While creating tomorrow,
hope is what light hearts follow.

Memories from a turned page,
should be burned and cleared with sage.
Disappearing with old times,
falling off with every climb.

  1. This is beautiful Grace! I instantly thought of an old Beatles song I would sing as a child called “Yesterday”. This piece perfectly expresses the thoughts that continue to over crowd my mind. Bravo my dear 👏👏👏

  2. A wondrous poem on this lovely and rainy afternoon, dear Grace. This here is epic, “Memories from a turned page,
should be burned and cleared with sage.” Wow. Talented, are you. I love it. 💖💖

  3. Memory— isn’t that something! They lay dormant for year until one day… gosh, memories.
Loved how you put them in perspective here. Yes, memories.
