Words

Before you speak,
open your ears,
do not repeat,
your hidden fears.

The words you say,
can provoke tears.
The price you pay,
can outlast years.

Before you speak,
talk to convey.
Thoughts sometimes leave,
deep phrases stay.

Feelings believe,
making minds sway.
Venting relieves,
if kept at bay.

Before you speak,
cushion affects.
message received,
touch all subjects.

Outlooks perceived,
while goals project,
wishes achieved,
somehow connect.

  1. This is so true and so beautifully crafted. I loved the second stanza the most, the whole piece overall was so well written. Loved it, Grace ❤❤

  2. In addition to the wisdom of this poem, I’m amazed at how you’re able to squeeze so much truth into four syllables per line and sixteen per stanza. Seriously, it’s a tribute to your talent that you’re able to make it appear so effortless. 🙂
