Why?

Broken connections,
haunt my dull mind.
Loss of affection,
leave trails behind.

Where did my friends go?
Who are they now?
Warm hearts turned so cold,
eyes filled with clouds.

A broken friendship
strums heart and mind.
A lonely steamship
without a bind.

Why did crossroads meet?
Why did we break?
Were we incomplete?
Was it all fake?

Memories linger
throughout each day.
Point a stern finger,
empathy sways.

It served a purpose
time just ran out,
scratch at the surface
release all doubts.

Greater wise lessons
cement alone.
Inner progression,
forms bright zones.

  1. Great take on the prompt Grace. Your writing does those lost memories of long ago friends complete justice. Beautiful ending…paths perhaps meet for a while as inspiration to learn how to love.

  2. This made me think, Grace. Think about all the broken friendships I have had before. How beautifully you write! I feel so happy to be reading your poems again as I was away from the blogosphere for quite a while. Loved thisss 💞

  3. Beautiful and melancholy, Grace! People come into our lives for a season, a reason or for a lifetime. It can be heartbreaking when we think they are the life timers, but aren’t. 💞💞💞

  4. “Broken connections,
    haunt my dull mind.
    Loss of affection,

They do, and I don’t have any
    answers. No idea what to
    do about this…
