Warning

Crimson skies report a threat,
nature will collect all debts.
Smokey clouds appear upset,
warnings came but reached neglect.

Everyone could have done more,
but instead chose to ignore.
If they knew what was in store,
would they listen to their core?

Now the future stands in place,
regrets and shame interlace,
Conservation soon embraced,
so mistakes can be erased.

Present times form future news,
try hard to preserve bright views.
Can we refrain from abuse,
learn to live without misuse?

  1. I’m growing doubtful that except a handful of people, humanity will ever learn to live in harmony with the environment. Most people have heard of the “climate change” concept but many simply “don’t believe in it” , will come up with all kinds of conspiracy theories and/ or will go to any lengths to deny/ own personal responsibility because they think it implies giving up certain comforts. Which, doesn’t have to happen. One can be comfortable and sustainable at the same time. Education and awareness goes a long way, but it’s very difficult to implement. That being said, great poem. It pretty much sums up our current relationship with the earth and how it really should be.

    1. Thank you so much. I can totally relate. It can be quite frustrating at times. You are so right, awareness can go a long way. So glad you enjoyed this poem. Hope you are having a wonderful day.💕

  2. Great, Grace, lovely poetry and sentiment! Sadly I can’t see a level of commitment that will pull us out of the downward spiral….one way or another I get the feeling we are on a one way trip to extinction. …

  3. A very timely warning Grace. I hope we all, who are reading this evocative poem will learn something from it. Thanks for joining in.

  4. A timely advice, Grace! It’s still not late to take care of our Mother Earth. Incidentally today is the earth day 👍💐❤️
