Speak

“A closed mouth never gets fed.”
Remember the words you said.
Shadows of a time that fled,
feelings followed where hearts led.

Random fears dance in my head.
“A closed mouth never gets fed”
Whispered voices fade till dead,
wish I could sing loud instead.

Hesitance steadily treads,
balancing poise on a thread.
“A closed mouth never gets fed.”
Hope deep inner thoughts are read.

Absorb the knowledge you bled,
absolving our every debt.
Confidence imprints and spreads.
“Opened mouth forever fed.”

  1. love the repete and powerful message Grace!! 💖 I rescued a bird today from Ollie and it was bleeding but I held it fro awhile and put her on a time out and it in the window box and it flew away. 👏👏👏👏👏

  2. I really enjoy your verses and the way you see and feel the world and what it brings with it.
A pleasure to go through your blog.
    Greetings and hugs, Grace. 😀

  3. I really like the twist at the end where the repeated line deviates to wrap up the poem. Structured poetry delights me, and yours is always a pleasure to read, Grace. 🙂

  4. Just awesome, Grace! Repetition of a line with alteration in the last adds its flavour. Enjoyed reading it. 😊❤️

  5. Open mouths are never fed
But some arms are still wide open
Tho my eyes gaze thru your eyes
    Perhaps some mouths shouldn’t!
