Push Back

I don’t know how to sing a song,
or have “right” words, what if I’m wrong?
I find it hard to move along,
what if I’m weak but think I’m strong?

The doubts inside,
clog up my mind.
My hands are tied,
nothing to find.
Tears that I cry,
just multiply.
Plead to my guides,
despair replies:

“You worthless fool, you have no clue,
just give up now, do not pursue.
What do you think that you can do,
create a change to start all new?”

Inner feuds try
to cause divides,
but hearts decide
what sticks and slides.
Positive strides
help draw the line,
create smooth vibes
to feel divine.

I learned my voice could sing so loud,
perfect notes form, to make me proud.
Negative speaks, thoughts I allow,
troubles appear if strong minds bow.

Felt hope inside,
inner ally,
kissed grief goodbye,
eased my own cries.
Hands dried my eyes,
pushed fears aside.
gained bits of pride,
let love fly high.

  1. This poem is a full journey. I feel my way through it each time and on the third reading, because I know the end, I enjoy it even better. ’tis like a glass of natural freshly pressed grape juice consumed in the early morn, just after dawn. I love it, Grace. Thanks.
