Powerful Words

Words still stuck,
inside my ears.
Where they snuck,
to strum my fears.
Plays old songs,
shift painful gears.
Lingers long,
stinging for years.

Words once said,
fail to erase.
Hurts the head,
but stays in place.
Fuels the brain,
taking up space,
causing strain,
as hearts retrace.

Words can heal,
and provide joy,
they reveal,
an inner voice.
Pick them well,
make a sound choice.
Let them tell,
stories with poise.

  1. Such truth here. I still hear words from my childhood rattling around in my head now and then which still affect me today. Words can hold an uncanny power that can last a lifetime. You’re always spot-on with your poetry, Grace. 🙂

  2. Such a beautiful & empowering poem…and crazy relatable to my own story…a wonderful message…on top, the immaculate flow ✨❤️💫

  3. What a poem.

I paid attention to the choice and combination of words and the length of each line.

I could sense the dexterity of the poet in bending and blending her choice of words into a message that conveys her intended meanings and emotions.

This level of mastery over words comes from constant practice.

    Well done, Grace!

  4. We indeed must watch the words with which we address others. A message that needs a bigger platform to reach many people who badly need to hear this again and again.

  5. Words are powerful, they can inspire or destroy. A beautiful poem with powerful words, Grace 😊💖
