Journey

Life is a story
with an endless spin,
an action park ride,
controlled from within.
One day we fly high,
the next day fall down,
study endless rules,
a merry go round.

Fickle and dizzy
an unbalanced soul,
breaks up the routine,
to gain self-control.
So many questions
await a response,
obtain every need,
yet still longs for wants.

The planet has changed,
nothing is the same,
words have new meanings,
unrelated aim.
Two steps, move forward
take one full step back,
slowly advancing,
to remain on track.

A visible light,
unfolds a strong bridge,
our soul creates wings,
our bodies the hinge.
Inhale then exhale
let go of the weight,
float calmly through life,
live what hearts create.

  1. That is a mouthful because it’s true the planet has changed in my lifetime. when I was kid we had weekly readers that were handed out in classrooms. there are newspapers for children I don’t think they still make them I don’t know I have a couple of the books. end of magazine they would tell us how global warming was coming and that it wouldn’t be in our lifetime it would be in several hundred years from our youth it happened in our lifetime glaciers are melting rivers are raising see is raising it’s becoming precarious to live by the coast. people are moving to Arizona they’re flooding Arizona and Texas are moving further in because the water is rising it’s like Noah in the ark everybody thought poo pooing him was okay and tell the rain start to come. there’s so many God book Bible Christian is a huge crosses on their chest for saying the world was coming to an end today I didn’t want to use just 65 years ago almost 66. on Thursday we’re scheduled to have the warmest day in February in 65 years it will be 60° astronomical February is known for 60 below not 60 above.

  2. Oh Grace! 😊🤗 Well said as always … “obtain every need, yet still longs for wants.” My favourite lines!

(FYI – I’m using the Jetpack app – hopefully this doesn’t turn out to be a reply to an existing comment- if so sorry!

  3. Grace, I think this is one of my favorites of yours… I love how you navigate the metaphor of life as an unpredictable journey, blending introspection with a vivid portrayal of the ever-changing nature of existence. Excellent!
