Hold On

Another day
brings ups and downs.
Watch dreams decay,
hopes hit the ground.

Fears come to play,
merry go round.
Goals slip away,
dreams never found.

Look for a place
to stand up strong.
Feel so disgraced,
never belong.

Search for a sign,
a spark of hope.
A little shine
can raise the slope.

Relax both eyes,
elevate faith.
Let thoughts revise
so soul guides brain.

Focus on light,
let go of fears.
Spirit feels bright,
as sorrows clear.

  1. I appreciate the strong treatment of affirmation here. When I read your work, I often think of J. R. R. Tolkien’s verse. His couplets and quatrains are not unlike your own. He has a poem that begins “All that is gold does not glitter” that I think you would enjoy.

    1. That’s so sweet of you. Thank you so much. That very poem is one of my husband’s favorite. He particularly likes the part “the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost.” Thanks again.💕

  2. So beautifully said!!!
    “Search for a sign,
    a spark of hope.
    A little shine
    can raise the slope.”
When your light is too dim, let another’s light guide you. When yours is strong again, be the beacon for another. ❤️
