Fading Past

Talking with shadows,
to pass stagnant time.
Feeling so hollow,
inner voices chime.

Be present today,
push the past away,
what the mind replays,
perceptions display.

So hard to swallow
pain that sticks like grime,
simple to wallow
in an endless climb.

Push past yesterday,
or the old will stay,
leave all where it lays,
heal and feel okay.

Seeking tomorrow,
hope all is sublime,
choosing to follow,
a future so prime.

Life will often sway,
and carry dismay,
enjoy the sun rays,
smiling past each day.

  1. The moment is so difficult to hold onto but I guess that’s not the point – it changes as we do, we just have to keep time with it – like a partner in a dance.

  2. Push past yesterday,
or the old will stay…so true. Thank you, Grace, for this beautiful poem with a message loud and clear.👍💖
