Depart

Time moves on, hearts remember,
sacrifices made of pure light.
Love ignites inner ember,
protective morning through night.

Deep set fears chime like a clock,
jiggle emotional keys,
visions cause tears to unlock,
cascade with old memories.

A deep breath holds the sweet taste,
of yesterday’s warm honey,
mountain tops known to re trace,
vanilla skies made sunny.

Crumbled papers show day dreams,
burn into ashes and smoke,
peaceful clouds form blissful beams,
overlook fates deadly cloak.

Melancholic moods arise,
quite difficult to describe,
divine hues gleam in soft eyes,
kissed with pure positive vibes.

  1. Thank you Grace for turning “melancholic moods… into protective morning through night” I like what you did in the poem of reversing your sentiments and then worthing through them. Brilliant really!

  2. Thank you for writing, Grace. I especially like this part:
    “Crumbled papers show day dreams,
    burn into ashes and smoke,
    peaceful clouds form blissful beams,
    overlook fates deadly cloak.”

  3. So heartfelt and wise. Sacrifice is worth the price for these gifts of heart. I too loved the “melancholic moods… into protective morning through night”💓

  4. Powerful piece, Grace! 💞💞💞 I really like the imagery of tears “cascade with old memories” as they certainly do. 💞
