Compensate (Published at The Writer’s Club)

Always a pressing debt to pay,
a role to play,
great lines to say.

Small hidden little nook to fill,
swallow the pill,
strengthens all will.

Painted bright smile stains solemn face,
run in the race,
legs locked in place.

No one is ever quite enough,
weakness is tough,
life feels so rough.

“I love you” is another phrase,
to be conveyed,
so feelings sway.

First-place can never come in last,
it happens fast,
creates contrast.

A different day born with each dawn,
yesterday’s gone,
tomorrow drawn.

New beginnings chases the clouds,
Sun shine compounds,
light source is found.

I enjoyed your dichotomy of time and order. This must have been a fun challenge to write. Great job. And, “the first can be last and the last first.”
    Brava!!
