Bridge through Time

Arrive at the bridge,
take a long deep breath,
gain inner courage,
bruised thoughts meet their death.

I cling to the past,
because it is known,
the only time lived,
where outcomes are shown.

A present today,
is the current state,
live in the moment,
forgetting blind fate.

A written future,
not currently seen,
created details,
live in the machine.

Look back at old days,
a whimsical time,
oblivious to pain,
shielded from all crimes.

A pen in my hand,
the paper still blank,
a time left behind,
with lessons to thank.

Tomorrow is vague,
not written in stone,
with each rising sun,
greet every unknown.

Leave old scars behind,
like burned tire tracks,
bright visions will find,
light to heal all cracks.

  1. You nailed this one, Grace. All three tenses (past, present, future) are perfectly described here, and I can identify with this piece so well (the second stanza is uncannily accurate). The final stanza is filled with hope. Thanks for this, Grace. 🙂

  2. Oh what a reflective poem Grace. Love this –

    Leave old scars behind,
    like burned tire tracks,
    bright visions will find,
    light to heal all cracks.

    Beautiful my friend. 😍👏🏼😘
