Unpack

Allow swallowed words
to pour like strong rain.
Release choked tears,
scream out in pain.

Anguish and sorrows
hide deeply inside.
Nowhere to run,
no place to hide.

A huge painted smile,
pretend feels okay.
Sun covered clouds,
highlight dull grays.

Vibrant echoes heal,
expose what is fake.
Speak what heart feels,
tempt palms to take.

Loud words spill about,
each phrase becomes real.
Clears unheard shouts,
truth unconcealed.

Accept every side,
embrace day and night.
Let sorrows die,
bask in bright light.

  1. What a wonderfully articulated poem dearest Grace. ❤👌👌

Your heartfelt words resonate with the depth of emotion and the struggle to conceal any pain. It’s a powerful reminder that it’s essential to express our feelings and confront our sorrows. Your poem beautifully encapsulates the journey from darkness to light, from hidden anguish to embracing both the joys and sorrows of life. Thank you for sharing this moving piece.

  2. Some days be like this… Like a shaken fizzy drink waiting to erupt because I’ve held it all in too long.
Great take on the prompt, Grace. 💙🙏

  3. I’ll stick with the last stanza “Accept all sides,
embrace the day and the night.
    Let the sorrows die,
    enjoy a bright light.”
