Passenger

Drive in silence, hear a tone,
realize I am not alone.
Look around, see no one there,
catch the mirror’s silent stare.

Hear an inner distinct voice,
offer me a different choice.
Take a longer scenic course“,
let my guide come straight from source.

Lower windows, breathe fresh air,
let go of every last care.
Made it home fast, safe and sound,
greeted by my neighbor’s frown.

“How did you get home so quick?
Could you share your magic trick?
Safety cones caused traffic jams,
the short cut was just a scam.”

Instant relief filled my core,
radiating every pore,
Always follow inner flows,
let it pilot where to go
.”

  1. The innate whimsy of the mundane in the proper hands makes for a wonderful poem. Well done, Grace. This was immensely enjoyable! 🙂
