I never told you what I thought,
swallowed concrete words wisdom taught.
Layers of bricks created walls,
that made my self esteem shrink small.
You never knew how hard I fought,
the somber pain your actions brought.
Sharp looks that made my insides crawl,
loud lingered laughter chased my falls.
Got tired of feeling distraught,
pushed away all the fears I caught.
Inflictions bounced off like a ball,
stopped running to your every call.
Searched deep within, found true support,
an inner love became my fort.
Self care and strength helped me stand tall,
found confidence so light can sprawl.

Awesome! I am so jealous of my fellow poets sometimes. But not in a hate way of course. I read stuff like this and wish I had written it. Great job.

Beautifully crafted, Grace. Some never know how a word or look from them can flay someone open, and others know and wield the power often. Takes much inner strength to break that power. ššš
Thank you so much. So very true, my friend.š
Dear Grace. When two people don’t talk no-more. When two people don’t listen no-more. The ending will be. Both alone. Amazing poetry dear poet.

Relieving at the end. Couldn’t agree more, self-esteem is very important and anything and anyone that wants to take it away must be shunned forthwith. I love this, Grace. ā¤
