Mislead

Seductive words,
consume my skin,
graceful like birds,
to cover sins.

Rips me in half,
flirtatious war,
invokes my laugh,
ego keeps score.

Deep thoughtless sigh,
exposes soul,
keep my head high,
game of control.

A stare so still,
it keeps you stuck,
kidnaps free will,
grants me good luck.

Deceptive ways,
hide on your face.
I look away,
to win first place.

Set myself free,
regain my spot.
You try to flee,
I tie your knots.

  1. I loved the whole poem, but the last few lines says it all. Especially the last one! I had to smile.

    “I look away,
    to win first place.

    Set myself free,
    regain my spot.
    You try to flee,
    I tie your knots.”

  2. This is an awesome poem Grace.
    Great lessons of the ego!

    love these lines:
    Brilliant.. the ego keeps score.
    Set myself free,
    regain my spot.
    “You try to flee,
    I tie your knots.”
