Millie

Most in-laws hardly get along,
but I gained one that sang my song.
Embrace me when I felt so weak,
supported me so I could peak.

Mother in-laws could be so tough,
but I scored one that was not rough.
Opened her arms to welcome me,
pointed out truths, my eyes could see.

Some in-laws could at times be rude,
but our connection kept us glued.
At times we laughed until we cried,
always sincere we never lied.

Ex mom in-law still present now,
through thick and thin she kept her vow.
Grandmother and a special friend,
the bond we share will never end.

    1. Beautifully written, as always Grace! 👌👌❤️❤️ You’re right, it’s no guarantee you’ll get a kind: welcoming mother in law. You & I have both been fortunate in that regard by the sounds of things! 👍😁

  1. This is truly beautiful. This is pretty much the type of relationship my mom still has with my paternal grandmother.

    1. I can so relate to this, Nancy. My ex mother in law was always there for me and her grandkids, even after I divorced her son and remarried. She’s truly special.💕

  2. Beautifully said; beautifully written, Grace. You are very blessed to have such a lovely relationship with your ex-mother-in-law. My mother-in-law, going back many years now, was a cruel and uncaring woman. Once my ex-husband and I had split up, she never wanted to have anything to do with me. I didn’t marry again, so I have managed without an in-law ever since then and quite happily. Xx 💖🌹💕

  3. A beautiful tribute to your ex-MIL in adorable verses, Grace! You were fortunate to have one like her.😊❤️

  4. Aww what a special story, Grace! Thank you for sharing!!! You have such a magical gift of connecting beautiful poetry with life wisdom. Amazingly done as always, my friend 🤍🤗
