Infinite Dad

Protective teacher, greatest friend,
infinite bond without an end.
Before each fall your hand extends.
My wrongs and rights you would defend.

With just one look, into my eyes,
you knew all truths I tried to hide.
Always candid, laughed at my lies,
so many fights that made you sigh.

A mix of strength and affection
taught me great faith with direction.
You made life safe, gave protection,
an ultimate mute connection.

Your heart my home with open doors,
festive embrace that I adored,
sincerest love felt at my core,
stories you told made me want more.

Walked by my side showed me you cared,
gave me advice, wisdom you shared,
ignited light made sure I dared,
then you were gone, I felt so scared.

Now you are free from any pain,
I celebrate memories gained,
your body is gone, essence remains,
nothing can break our strong linked chain.

  1. This is the first post I read this morning and it brought to mind my father who passed away many years ago. Thank you for stirring my wonderful memories of him.

  2. The most important thing is that your dad is in you and there is no greater love than carrying him in your heart and memory with the example he has taught us.

    Hugs, Grace.

  3. I could relate to the whole poem. Thank you so much! This Saturday is my father’s 14th death anniversary, and I miss him a bit too much during this time. On normal days his presence is felt everyday in many moments, it’s only during this time when his absence is stronger. Happy Father’s Day to our fathers!

    1. Glad you found it relatable. It’s been 26 since my father passed and his presence will forever be missed, though I do find so much comfort in the memories. Blessings to you on this day.💕🙏💕

  4. With just one look, into my eyes,
you knew all truths I tried to hide.
A lovely, heartfelt tribute, Grace! Happy Father’s Day 🎉🌹💖
