clears away fears,
catches my fall.
Offers an ear, when times are sad,
provokes a smile,
to chase off bad.
A simple hug , makes life so good,
silent connection,
understood.
Paralyzed by what I have seen,
protective paw,
safety redeemed.
Silently still, like a statue,
sweet friendly meow,
brings peaceful hues.
Exposes shadows with pure light,
true empathy,
extends insight.
No longer feel like siting prey,
delightfully,

My apartment complex doesn’t allow pets, so I find my watching dog and cat videos every day. 🙂 It’s the closest thing to having a dog or cat companion, I suppose. You’ve captured the essence of animal companionship in this poem, and it brightened my morning. Thank you for that, Grace. 🙂

You’re Grace I’ve been blessed with a kitten for my son a year ago on Labor Day goodness if it didn’t go out and get herself pregnant later now I guess I have a catastrophe going on I love every one of them but boy you got just too much of a good thing I want to take a picture of them all sleeping in the bed with me and my dog but listening to your poem I just thought it was special keep up the great work
