Christmas Thought

Melancholic thoughts fill Christmas,
each and every passing year.
Carols play in every business,
attempting to provoke cheers.

Part of me feels so excited,
witnessing the twinkling lights,
other pieces feel divided,
witnessing greed in plain sight.

Search inside to find the answers
that can ease this holiday,
see all smiles as true enhancers,
maybe this could make joys stay.

In a world with so much ugly,
try to enjoy this one day.
Cozy up, peaceful and snugly,
celebrate in my own way.

  1. One of my favorite things about Christmas was always anticipation now it’s right in your face there’s no escaping it. Heck speck Valentine candy is already in the stores I’m sorry but that’s sad

  2. Yes holidays seem to amplify this melancholy outlaws heart, wishing to cross paths with hearts that are far West from this East. Gratitude from the feelings of growth, inner strength and hope fill the mind when it starts to feel empty from “What if’s, and should I reach out one last time, to I wish she knew my memoir” I try to remain present because this moment right now is a gift.

  3. You nailed this one, Grace. The holiday season can be really rough for many of us for various reasons, and it’s difficult to find joy when so many are suffering. Hopefully, there’s still a spark left to kindle some happiness this time of year. Your poetry is always insightful and meaningful. I hope your Christmas is wonderful, and that 2024 brings much needed peace and safety and happiness to everyone. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much, Mike. It sure can be. Truly appreciate you , my friend. Looking forward to reading your wonderful posts this upcoming year. Happy holidays.💕

  4. I appreciate your feelings, Grace! Hope, you enjoyed the day! Merry Christmas to you and your family 🎁🎄💖
