Caretaker (Published at The Writers Club)

How can I measure your blank stare?
How can I let you know I’m there?
Regular visits with your soul,
while keeping my feelings controlled.

How can I make you more aware?
How can I show how much I care?
Hold your hands till our breaths connect.
pray to comfort painful unrest.

How can I prevent all despair?
How can this life be so unfair?
Cradle you while releasing fears,
tell happy tales to absorb tears.

How can I open you to share?
How can I tempt you so you dare?
Share my mind and my spirit too.
Know deep inside wishes come true.

How can I hold faith and prepare?
How can my love serve to repair?
Care for you with each passing day.
Tend to myself in every way.

My poem “Caretaker” was published on The Writers Club today. This was my first time publishing with them and so I decided to follow this weeks prompt of well being. I would like to thank their team for showcasing this piece.

  1. I pressed send before I finished my initial response. As a doula reading the signs takes time, its difficult to navigate separating feelings of what you need and what they need. I think this expresses that beautifully.

  2. Such a beautiful piece of writing, and so emotional. Grace, you’re on a roll now! Congratulations on another publishing milestone! Exciting times! 🙂

  3. Congratulations, Grace! This is a wonderful piece full of empathy. You deserve it 🎉💐💖
