Peace Offer

A single rose,
to mask all lies,
to boost your show,
to hush my cries.

A thorny stem,
a sign of truths,
a candid gem,
a pain that soothes.

A pretty rose,
will show you care,
will help fights blow,
will keep hearts there.

A real cliche,
that brings pure smiles,
that paves the way,
that reconciles.

A pretty rose,
can offer hope,
can brighten lows,
can balance slopes.

A warmer gift,
with scented lips,
with a sweet sniff,
with strength that grips.

  1. This poem immediately brings back memories of wild roses that grew on the farm where I was raised. Their scent lingers still. Beautiful writing, Grace. 😊🌹

  2. Your writing is beautiful. Your verses invite us to reflect on the complexity of human relationships, where gestures of peace can be both genuine and insufficient. It is a mixture of criticism and tenderness, with a tone that oscillates between irony and hope.

    Hugs, friend Grace. 🤗✨
