Out of the Wild

In tall grass she stands,
two young cubs at her side,
eyes fixed to the left,
upon each daily stride.

Through sun’s glare and heat,
her guard will never break,
each step, each small choice,
made for her children’s sake.

But come evening’s glow,
their claws transform to play,
they stir pots and laugh,
as the world drifts away.

In the mirror’s frame,
their smiles are enhancing,
and behind them, bold:
“This kitchen’s for dancing!”

This weeks prompt offered two picture options. This poem was inspired by both pictures. 💕

  1. Grace, this poem transitions seamlessly from a Savanah to a kitchen. I love how you’ve included both the images in your poem. Thanks for joining in.

  2. I am so impressed with your blending of photos so smoothly Grace. Well done! Love the protective theme of the mother with her cubs during the day and the theme of dancing in the evening…a delight.

  3. This poem captures the duality of motherhood: protective strength and playful warmth, united in a single figure that transitions from the “wild world” of everyday life to the intimate warmth of home.

    Best regards, friend Grace. 🤗✨
