Mentor (Published at The Writers Club)

He taught me many lessons,
ones I cannot soon forget:
“Always give your very best,
so you never face regrets.”

On his own, without guidance,
made him wise beyond his years:
“If your sad, have a good cry,
let your hands wipe your own tears.”

Through time fake friendships withered,
never had much family:
“Better off being alone,
than around bad company.”

Hard at work for a low wage,
money came but rarely stayed:
“Feel no guilt obtaining wants,
needs will be met everyday.”

Gave himself to all in need,
and always handed respect:
“If you give, give from your heart,
just make sure to not expect.”
