The sun beams soft on garden walls,
where jasmine climbs and shadow falls,
but somewhere near, a sweetness wakes,
lingering scent of summer cakes.
It drifts through open windowpanes,
with hints of almond, cream, and grains,
memories baked in tender heat,
now floating down the cobbled street.
A buttered breeze, a sugared sigh,
like laughter echoing the sky,
it clings to time, both bold and slight,
a ghost of joy in golden light.
Sweet treat is gone, the plates are bare,
yet still it dances in the air,
fragrance so warm, surreal, and true,
a spell of June that never flew.
