Babysitter, on her phone,
sister and I feel alone.
See a book that’s not my own,
inner content must be shown.
Teeter totter, restless thoughts.
“Let’s read the book that she brought.”
Grab my sister’s little hand,
at first walked, but then we ran.
Up and over the hillside,
was a perfect place to hide.
Twinkling pages in sunshine,
excitement and hopes align.
Only understood few words.
“No pictures, this books absurd,
let’s make up our own stories,
adventure filled with glory.”
Just as thoughts danced in our brains,
sunny weather became rain.
Put the book in her book bag,
dried my sister with a rag.
Babysitter brought some snacks,
grabbed the book from her back pack,
she read such amazing tales,
as our fantasies set sail.
