Goodbye and Hello

A lingered song
plays in her head,
of memories
she once thought dead.
Familiar love,
once felt so deep,
haunting her thoughts
disrupting sleep.

Her sacred flock
was made of lies,
hearts never locked,
just false allies.
Promises made
dissolved and died,
smiles that she knew
were all disguised.

Saying farewell,
set her life free,
she made the move
turning the key.
Resentments fled
let bygones be,
cleared up the dark,
felt inner glee.

Shed a few tears
while letting go,
positive vibes
dictate life’s flow.
All that she touched
picked up a glow,
her inner light
expands and grows.

Expend

Sacrifice can be okay
but should not rule every day.
Resentments will find their way,
at times they linger and stay.

Give to give, never to take,
do not make pure actions fake.
Hear silent cries as they shout,
fulfill needs without a doubt.

No one gives what they don’t have,
assisting, cutting in half.
Provide fully, then grant more,
selfless life or endless chore.

People do what one allows,
form boundaries, draw them out.
Take a stand, find inner voice,
proving acts come from free choice.

Search within, find the right words,
sing them loud, so they are heard.
Stand up straight to take a stand,
let heartbeats dictate commands.

Expose true self, feel secure,
self-acceptance is a cure.
Confidence makes each step sure,
deeds are clear, intentions pure.

Challenge

Ready for a fight,
staring eye to eye.
Keeping you at sight,
pesky little fly.

Swatting at the air,
swiping here and there,
you escape my stare
then hide in my hair.

I hit my own head
hoping this will end,
your body lays dead
while playing pretend.

Ego at my face,
enticing a chase,
I remain in place
feeling my own grace.

I start to ignore
your attempt at war,
decide not to score
then center my core.

My heart fills with light
it reaches new heights,
I sigh and feel bright
you take off, full flight.

Desires

Lush green grass is somehow greener,
when viewed from the other side.
Conflicted, jealous daydreamer,
peeks through life, unsatisfied.

Such excitement while obtaining
every craving and all wants,
brand new shine is always fading
tarnishing unfulfilled hearts.

Squinting eyes comparing visions,
stagnantly running in place.
Everyone has their own mission,
conquered at a distinct pace.

Feelings of dissatisfaction
will attract more of the same.
Gratitude as a reaction
can ignite an inner flame.

Dire thirst, fulfilled with raindrops,
does not need a waterfall,
neither one choosing to make swaps,
both content to serve their cause.

Everybody has their own path,
as each finger wears a print.
Do not covet another’s catch
leaving bright light for mere glints.

Warmest Dance

The shiny sun
offers a hand,
entices me
into a dance.

The warmest ray
touches my face,
tattoos my skin
fills me with grace.

A happy tune
plays in the breeze,
moving the leaves
on swaying trees.

As wild winds sweep,
whistle and chime,
form perfect beats
that can stop time.

A stage of grass,
song without words,
just sprinkled rain,
and flapping birds.

The moisture dries
mild hues shine bright,
sun fades away
bringing moonlight.
