Wait around for our walk,
on the phone, laugh as you talk.
Fanny pack with yummy treats,
cannot wait to hit the streets.
Full bladder prevents my jump,
need to potty, hurry up.
Finally you grab house keys,
picture my favorite tree.
Restroom seems to call your name,
is this just a twisted game.
Desperation guides my bark,
when will we get to the park.
Hear your footsteps come up close,
watch you smile at my slumped pose.
Excitement greets your “Let’s go”,
run along, you walk too slow.
