She sings her song
to reach all ears,
hoping her wrongs
dissolve and clear.
Singing so loud,
provoking tears,
confessing sounds,
consciousness hears.
Absolving sins
one at a time,
memories spin
releasing crimes.
Plays her violin
as her heart chimes,
then slowly grins,
feeling sublime.
Her lyrics made
to testify,
as music plays,
to memorize,
both serve as aids
that energize,
hopes that display
what hides inside.
Forgive mistakes
with melodies,
soon all guilts break,
as remedy.
Future awakes
abilities,
to give and take
polarities.

Before I became deaf, playing guitar was such an important form of self-therapy for me. This poem really brings back the memories of my aspirations to become a musician, as well as how good it felt to simply play music by myself. It’s a wonderful piece of poetry, Grace. 🙂
